The average American sits for over eight hours a day. Combine that statistic with the average six to eight hours of sleep a night, and Americans are remaining stationary for fourteen to sixteen hours a day; that’s 58-67% of their life. Whether you’re trying to lose a few extra pounds, or you’re looking for a total body make over, to achieve you goals you have to get up and move.

The most simple form of exercise is walking. It is important to incorporate a cardio routine into your life in order to reduce the risk of heart disease and other health issues. Walking is an aerobic activity that gets your heart rate up, without requiring any fancy machines or expensive gym memberships.

Walking should be done for twenty minutes, three times a week at a minimum. Experts say this frequency will maintain healthy weight, but to really drop the pounds, you should increase the time to thirty minutes or the frequency to five days a week.
