You don’t have to run a mile a day or do an hour of pilates after work to keep the pounds off. The most simple exercise can be done without greatly impacting your daily routine. A few simple adjustments can result in an extra pound of weight loss a week, and you won’t even have to work that hard.

A few changes to be implemented center around your work day. The first thing to do is give up that amazing parking spot. If you park a block farther from work each day, you are getting much more exercise. Next, skip the elevator and take the stairs. Finally, if you go to lunch close to your office, don’t jump in the car and drive. Walking a few extra steps each day will really help. Wear a pedometer to track your progress.

At home, wash the dishes by hand instead of using the dish washer, cook dinner instead of ordering in, and walk around while on the phone. The basic idea is stay moving. Don’t collapse as soon as the clock strikes five (or whenever you get off work). If you have kids, play with them outside. Do anything you can to stay active, and you’ll be surprised how easy it is to shake of a little extra weight.
